Oceanic Server News and FAQ

As posted on the W.A.R.Herald:

Australian and New Zealand players will be able to get into the WAR simultaneously with North American and European players when Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning releases in Fall 2008.

In addition, WAR will also feature dedicated servers in Australia, ensuring the best game play experience possible for enthusiastic Australian and New Zealand players.

WAR Oceanic FAQ

Where will the server be located?

The game server will be located on mainland Australia and service New Zealand, Singapore, and other surrounding South East Asian territories.

When will the server be available?

Australian, North American, and European servers will all launch simultaneously with the client available throughout the supported territories mentioned above.

What are the benefits to having a local, regional server?

A local server means reduced latency and packet loss. These advantages allow for better performance in Realm vs. Realm battles and an overall improved game experience with limited lag and a more responsive environment. In addition there will be a higher population during peak Oceanic play times allowing players to better coordinate their in-game efforts.

Will Oceanic players be able to play on North American servers?

Absolutely, players from both North America and the Oceanic region will play using the same client giving them access to both North American and Oceanic servers. In addition servers will be listed with regional tags and able to be sorted by ping rate allowing players to select the best server for them quickly and easily.

What server hardware will be used for the Australian Server?

The game will be hosted on the same server technology used for North American servers.

'Emotionally Engorged' : EAMythic Press Conference Call!

Don't ask about the title....it's a long and sorded story, trust me.

Only-WAR was one of very few W.A.R. only sites (see what I did there? w.a.r. only...only-war) amidst a huge flock of giant Multi-MMO and Gaming sites for this hysterical-as-always call. I'm starting to refer to these things as "Chaotic Fun Sprinkled with Crack". But anyways....I've just hung up with what was probably one of the most hysterical conference calls yet with the EAMythic Team, and boy do we have some cool stuff for you!!

And we also have some Exclusive Conference Call Assets given to media that took part.

The massive Black Ark cast a long, dark shadow over the northern cliffs of the Blighted Isle. Legions of Dark Elf warriors poured from the great maw of the Black Ark, accompanied by fell beasts of war. Manticores, Cold Ones, and Hydras were led by black-visaged Beastmasters, while rank upon rank of grim-faced Dark Elf warriors stormed the ancient High Elf village of Calumel.

Folks,
It’s been, ahem, a rather interesting couple of months here in Mythic-land hasn’t it? Fortunately, I’m not here to announce anything nearly as interesting as our recent news. I’m here to talk about good things, some changes and as always to give the community the facts straight from the horse’s (wait for it, wait for it) head.
First, we are finishing up the initial stage of our first major RvR testing and it has gone really well. Our server is almost full nightly and the beta testers are having a great time. The kudos are flying fast and furious and while nothing is perfect, it is safe to say that this stage is exceeding our expectations.

Second, over the last few months there have been a few questions and concerns about our beta program in regards to system requirements, eligibility requirements, admittance dates, general policies and procedures for our Beta Test in North America. While we have tried to be really clear I want to take this opportunity to be even clearer. So, here’s a lengthy Q&A that will hopefully answer many of the questions I’ve seen posted on various fan sites:

I made a new thread for this rather than sticking it in the existing thread as I didn't want it to get lost in the middle of a long discussion.

So, here as promised are the winners from the massive Goa/WHA/Only-WAR/Freddyshouse/WAR-RVR Art and Writing contest!

Before I begin I'd like to say thanks to Garthilk, Fahran, Morg and Jupitus from the participating sites for all their help in organising this. I'd also like to thank all of you who entered. The quality was very high indeed as was the sheer volume of entries and while it made this a very difficult contest to judge, it was a pleasant chore.

So then without further ado, here are the lucky winners, there were 40 prizes on offer, 8 guaranteed for each site and a further 8 in total for ones that we really liked but didn't make the cut.

The announcement of the Collector's Edition coupled with the announcement of the game's delay has definately caused ripples through the W.A.R. Community at large to say the least.
